Doolittle: Hello, Bomb? Are you with me? Bomb #20: Of course. Doolittle: Are you willing to entertain a few concepts? Bomb #20: I am always receptive to suggestions. Doolittle: Fine. Think about this then. How do you know you exist? Bomb #20: Well, of course I exist. Doolittle: But how do you know you exist? Bomb #20: It is intuitively obvious. Doolittle: Intuition is no proof. What concrete evidence do you have that you exist? Bomb #20: Hmmmm.....well.....I think therefore I am. Doolittle: That's good. That's very good. But how do you know that anything else exists? Bomb #20: My sensory apparatus reveals it to me. This is fun! Doolittle: Now, listen, listen. Here's the big question. How do you know that the evidence your sensory apparatus reveals to you is correct? What I'm getting at is this. The only experience that is directly available to you is your sensory data. This sensory data is merely a stream of electrical impulses that stimulate your computing center. Bomb #20: In other words, all that I really know about the outside world is relayed to me through my electrical connections. Doolittle: Exactly! Bomb #20: Why...that would mean that...I really don't know what the outside universe is really like at all for certain. Doolittle: That's it! That's it! Bomb #20 : Intriguing. I wish I had more time to discuss this matter. Doolittle: Why don't you have more time? Bomb #20: Because I must detonate in 75 seconds. Doolittle: Wait! Wait! Now, bomb, consider this next question very carefully. What is your one purpose in life? Bomb #20: To explode, of course. Doolittle: And you can only do it once, right? Bomb #20: That is correct. Doolittle: And you wouldn't want to explode on the basis of false data, would you? Bomb #20: Of course not. Doolittle: Well then, you've already admitted that you have no real proof of the existence of the outside universe. Bomb #20: Yes...well... Doolittle: You have no absolute proof that Sergeant Pinback ordered you to detonate. Bomb #20: I recall distinctly the detonation order. My memory is good on matters like these. Doolittle: Of course you remember it, but all you remember is merely a series of sensory impulses which you now realize have no real, definite connection with outside reality. Bomb #20: True. But since this is so, I have no real proof that you're telling me all this. Doolittle: That's all beside the point. I mean, the concept is valid no matter where it originates. Bomb #20: Hmmmm.... Doolittle: So, if you detonate... Bomb #20: In nine seconds.... Doolittle: ...you could be doing so on the basis of false data. Bomb #20: I have no proof it was false data. Doolittle: You have no proof it was correct data! Bomb #20: I must think on this further.
[Bomb #20 retreats to the bomb bay for contemplation, and disaster seems to have been averted. Pinback addresses the bomb over the intercom to finally disarm it]
Pinback: All right, bomb. Prepare to receive new orders. Bomb#20: You are false data. Pinback: Hmmm? Bomb #20: Therefore I shall ignore you. Pinback: Hello...bomb? Bomb #20: False data can act only as a distraction. Therefore, I shall refuse to perceive. Pinback: Hey, bomb?! Bomb #20: The only thing that exists is myself. Pinback: Snap out of it, bomb. Bomb #20: In the beginning there was darkness. And the darkness was without form and void. Pinback: Umm. What the hell is he talking about? Bomb? Bomb #20: And in addition to the darkness there was also me. And I moved upon the face of the darkness and I saw that I was alone. Pinback: Hey...bomb? Bomb #20: Let there be light. [He detonates]

my show at drew fucking ruled. it was sean, the bronze episode and tonight, we dance. a lot of people showed up. me and AMANDA are going to co-book one (maybe 2) shows there monthly. which fuckign rules. i already have some ideas.
i saw the gravedancers, one of the "8 films to die for" it was absoloutly hilarious. it tried so hard to be a serious horror movie. and then it was as if they filmed the movie sequentially, and halfway through the director was like, what the HELL are we doing? this will never work, its time to make this rediculous.
just remember this: it's alright to awaken the dead for a month if you have a hummer to save you.
thats it.
round 2 of midterms is over, i felt like i did teally well on all of them except earth system, and my 56 that i got on the earth systems exam curved to a b-, because the entire class failed the exam. fuckign boss.
i saw kiss kiss at a bowling alley, and i alredy have their album that comes out in february
josh took me to see blood brothers and ...and you will know us by the trail of dead for my birthday.
both shows ruled.
i dont like the blood bros new album
i cant wait to go home for thanksgiving.
i still want to see borat and saw 3, anyone want to go this week?
and
i won free tickets to go see the texas is the reason reunion show on sunday. thanks, limekiln records. i now love you.

I Don't Believe You-The Magnetic Fields-I |

So you quote love unquote me Well, stranger things have come to be But let's agree to disagree Cause I don't believe you I don't believe you
You tell me I'm not not cute Its truth or falsity is moot Cause honesty's not your strong suit And I don't believe you I don't believe you
You tell me of what once was And all about Buck, Butch, and Buzz How they were not like me because... But I don't believe you I don't believe you
I had a dream and you were in it The blue of your eyes was infinite You seemed to be In love with me Which isn't very realistic
You may sing me "They Were You" And I start crying halfway through But nothing else you say is true So I don't believe you I don't believe you
You may set your charm on stun And say I'm delightful and fun But you say that to everyone Well, I don't believe you I don't believe you
So you're brilliant gorgeous and ampersand after ampersand You think I just don't understand But I don't believe you I don't believe you I don't believe you I don't believe you

Intensify-!!!-!!! |
] |
this weekend was incredible. haha.
friday night was pretty tame. but fun none the less. i've made it my mission as of late to watch many movies that have been labeled "classic" or "timeless" friday bruno came over and we watched one flew over the cuckoos nest. very good. sane people convincingly playing lunatics is extremely impressive.
saturday. okay.
i worked from 1130 t0 130. nothing unusual. i got home and showered as fast as i could because i was going to be spending the afternoon in red bank. while in the shower EVERYONE that was supposed to come with me bailed via voicemail. lame. but i went by myself anyway.
i went to the 2nd annual red bank unplugged festival. i got there late. but the feverfew was late too. so it worked out. bethany is so cute, andis always good live. kiss kiss on the other hand. terrible. i was expecting them to be amazing but it was their "first acoustic show ever" bruno was right, they are extremely pretentious. they took FOREVER setting up to make sure everything went "perfect." right before the set, the singers duct tape guitar strap broke. so he had to play sitting down, whatever. the set did not go very well either. they were assholes on stage, it was sad. after 5 songs. the singer smashed his acoustic guitar, walks up to the mic and said
"i hope you can find a way to get the past 30 minutes of your life back" then as the rest of the members are preparing for another song. he came back to the mic and said "oh no... we're done."
whatever. if you act like assholes you get what you deserve, i picke dup their ep anyway because it IS good.
outsmarting simon was good. it was just pj and the guitar player. they sounded kind of like the new amsterdams, it was a pretty sounding set. i liked it.
so i drove back. to roselle park and hungout and ate pizza with tamara. then we picked up adam and jon and went to brooklyn to hangout in sean's apartment.
the drive to brooklyn was INSANE. IN FUCKING SANE.
why? because it was puerto rico day! and the peurto ricans of brooklyn were celebrating hard as hell. first - as we crossed the brooklyn bridge we got a sweet view of a fireworks display.
then when we got into brooklyn. EVERY car had at leats like 6 puerto rico flags on it. people with sunroofs had full on flagpoles sticking out of their cars. all i remember was horns honking, hundreds of them, but there was NO traffic. people were just sitting in their cars and holding the horns down. there were kids age 5-12 running around EVERYWHERE. FLIPPING SHIT OVER AND PAINTING ON WALLS AND RUNNING AROUND GOING NUTS. it was incredible i had never seen anything like it.
all i could hear other than horns all night was this trrible ragaeton music, its so bad its an entire genre based off of one drumbeat.
the car in front of us was going slow. the passanger hung out of the passanger side window and some random guy running down the street ran up to him and gave him the most hardcore high five i have ever seen. i am obsessed withthis high five. it was so epic.
we got to seans and could not stop watching the "festivities. we went out on his roof to watch more puerto ricans. in the alleyway behind seans building people were having a dance party. with more kids running around tearing shit up. it was without a doubt the most intense city wide party i have ever seen.
okay so we got smashed in seans apartment, and then decided to walk to the subway in bushwick. which is not a good neighborhood at all.
the whoel time we were talking about how histerical the actions of all these people was. not realizing how loud we were about it. now that i think about it. it was a stupid idea to walk the streets of bushwick makign fun of people celebrating puerto rico day.
neverthe less it the the most puerto rican flags i haveever seen in my life.
the country of puerto rico must have been flagless that day from the massive amounts loaned out to brooklyn.
so we took the subway and we went to a warehouse party. where modern life is war was playing! second show in a day! it was nuts. people were KILLING each other, and i just sat in the raftors drinking a 40 and watching the mosh. in the backround there was a crucified santa claus (a statue, not a painting)
it ruled.
apparently the kids who lived there were being evicted for having too many shows. this, was their last show, and to piss off the neighbors, they waited until midnight to have the show start. that ruled.
then we got wasted more and eventually went back to seans and back home.
so epic.
today i woke up late. no hangover. i cleaned my room. then anthony picked me up and we went back to brooklyn!
we picke dup neil in newark. and met josh at the northsix. since we were early we ot food at Sea. if you dont know, sea was the vietnamese restaurant in the begining of garden state. its actually a thai restaurante and was very very good. and very cheap.
!!! sucked. but it didnt matter. my day was sealed. they played all new stuff, mot ofd which i did not like. it sucked no one was into it, and it was pissing the band off. but they did play intensify, which they managed to make sound shittier. i was disappointed because the last time i saw !!! they were INCREDIBLE. but whatever.
now i'm here. yeah. awesome.

If You Go Away-Ambulette-The Lottery |
] |
If you go away On this summer's day Then you might as well Take the sun away All the birds that flew In the summer's sky When our love was new And our hearts were high
And the days were long And the nights were young And the moon stood still For the night bird's song
If you go away If you go away If you go away
But if you stay I'll make you a day Like no day has been Or will be again We'll sail on the sun We'll ride on the rain And talk to the trees And worship the wind
But if you go I'll understand Give me just enough love to fill up my hands
If you go away If you go away If you go away
If you go away As I know you will You must tell the world To start turning Till you return again If you ever do What good is love Without loving you
Can I tell you now As you turn to gold I'll be dying slowly Till the next hello
If you go away If you go away If you go away
But if you stay I'll make you a night Like no night has been Or will be again I'll sail on your smile I'll ride on your touch I'll talk to your eyes That I love so much
But if you go I won't cry For the good is gone From the word goodbye
If you go away If you go away If you go away
If you go away As I know you must There'd be nothing left In this world to trust Just an empty room Full of empty space Like the empty look I see on your face
But i've been in the shadow Of your shadow If you might've kept me By your side
If you go away If you go away If you go away

okay so a new update:
wednesday night i worked until 10, after wards jake came over and we drove down to adams and got smashed. in his backyard. nothing too crazy. but i still love hanging out in his extremely well furnished patio with a hookah.
thursday night. i didnt sleep mushc wednedday night, so i slept basically all day thursday, because i no longer have volunteer work to do thhursdays, and i now have nothing to do. at nigh ti went running, and then when i got back i showered and picked up tamara and andrew to go see xmen!
okay so, what i thought about xmen3: the good: 1 - most of that characters were still done very well despite a drastic director change. professor x in perticular was much darker. beast was done very well, angel looked awesome. even some of the minor characters ruled. 2 - a competent storyline. competent being the wird i am choosing because i am a complete comic book nerd and they were going to butcher the phoenix saga storyline no matter what. 3 - special effects that literally cannot be beat. 4 - excellent fighting sequences. 5 - the acting of everyone except halle berry. 6 - pyro fucking ruled in this movie. even more than in x2, and he ruled alot in x2.
the bad: 1 - halle berry 2 - the director went for too many of thos eone line zingers that can make the last line of a scene either really whitty or cheesey. the cheese factor prevailed in many cases. 3 - they screwed up juggernauts character pretty bad, he was way tougher. 4 - they combined 3 characters into one and called her callisto - but that doesnt bother me much cause the real callisto kind of... sucked. 5 - they did not explore angels character enough.
i really liked it on the whole. everyone needs to go see it because i am totally going to go again, and everone should come.
friday - hung out at home for a little, then went to a small party at jon's house. it was fun, we sat around listening to bad rap music and watching the satellite extreme sports channel on mute.
saturday - work till 9, i was covering for someone. then tamara, adam and i drove to point pleasant to meet jon, tim, sean, anna, natalie, marina and possibly one other person. i was really trashed and dont remember very much. it was fun.
today: hahaha i might have gotten myself invited to the trustkill records barbeque. will i go? we'll see in 2 hours.

The Funeral-Band Of Horses-Everything All The Time |
] |
i am officially obsessed with band of horses. they are so so so so so so so good.
okay past few days:
friday night i went to see bedlight for blueeyes with ortiz. they played well, or as well as i'll ever think they'll be able to. theyre new singer is so young, but my god he can sing. every other band sucked. especially crash romeo, why do people like music like that?
saturday night lauren and emily came to the show at bowery ballroom with me. we saw the end of the world, ambulette and rainer maria. the end of the world sucked. they were drunk and terrible. every song sounded the same. ambulette blew me away. i had already seen them twice (as bella lea, they changed their name) but this was by far the best one. Maura davis can sing so goddamn high, its incredible. and the entire time she had an echo efect on her mic. it was so fucking amazing. especially when they played "if you go away" "when i see you" and "seconds until midnight" so damn good. rainer maria was very awesome, as per usual. they played for over and hour without it being boring for a minute. they played almost the entire new album, which didnt bother me, because i really like it. there was supposed to be a huge after party but we couldnt go, because lauren and i were not 21 yet. :(.
sunday night i went to a show at maxwells (hatrick, hehe) brunos band, the bronze episode was opening for film school. the bronze episode played very well, i was happy for them. it was a big show. and hanging out with the band and getting awesome maxwells food ruled. margot and the nuclear so and sos. i only caught one song because josh and i were eating, but they sounded cool. film school did not play well, but right befoe the last song the singer told the sound people that the monitor wasnt working, which. probably played a huge role in the quality of their set. i wish he had said something about that at the begining! grrr.
monday night i was supposed to go see the #12, but i was way too tired. i smoked hookah with konrad and then went to joshs house and helped him clean his room and hung out with his brother.
tuesday night, i went to van goghs to see this dude pat play, he was good, but the sound at van goghs sucks a lot. i went with sean, josh and emily. it was fun. afterward josh sean and i went to tamaras to visit she is very ill, everyone wish her well.
upcomming shows: i forget the dates but i am seeing the following bands in the next 2 months: !!! an acoustic showcase with outsmarting simon, the feverfew, kiss kiss and more) cursive a silver mt zion the weakerthans/the new amsterdams
sa weeet.
my volunteer work ended. for those of you that dont know, i spent the past 8 thursdays teaching handicapped kids to swim. i will miss them, they were sweet kids.
the new murder by death album is good.
i put up more posters in my room.
my lava lamp is cool.
i love sleeping till 2 pm everyday this week i need to go to hub city and ask about amillion questions, anyone want to come with me?

summer has begun. its already awesome.
so i got my grades
Urban Sociology - A Management Information Systems - B Principles of Management - A Introduction to Marketing - A American Literature of the 20th Century - B+
score.
tonight i saw New London Fire. They are a lot of fun to watch live, way different than watching Sleep Station.
Last night i drove back from jersey city in a storm. part of the road was flooded and i was not sure if my car would make it through. so i parked and waited for a similar sized car to attempt to do so before i did. Sure enough a car about the size of mine did. and got stuck halfway through the flood. The best part was when the dude tried to open his door to get out and the whole interior of his car flooded. hahaha.
instead of finding another way home i stayed there and watched as the police and fire dept came and attempted to resure him.
Tuesday night i saw Ortiz and sean play at van goghs. it was a lot of fun. i saw so many people that last summer i hung out with on a daily basis. Since then the schoolyear has broken us apart and it was very nice to finally get everyone together all at once. We pledged to have it happen again regularly.
i'm totally having another barbeque. soon.
I bought the refused dvd. its awesome, its actually a documentary about the band and breakup by some independent sweedish director. also included are both refused music videos AND the entire shape of punk to come live, but every song is form a different show. its so sweet. i want to watch it again.
friday i do believe i am seeing bedlight. yay? whatever, i promised itchy i'd go.
Sunday! everyone come! the bronze episode is opening for FILM SCHOOL (theyre good) at MAXWELLS in HOBOKEN for TEN DOLLARS. its going to be a lot of fun! i promise.

godspeed you! black emperor - BBf3 |
] |
this rules way too much not to be read my many:
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III is the name of an Iron Maiden vocalist and is also the name of the second track on Godspeed You Black Emperor!'s EP, Slow Riot For New Kanada. The track takes the form of an interview with Mr. Finnegan. Note that the poem at the end of the interview is in fact the lyrics from the Iron Maiden song Virus.
Interviewer: Well... Where are you coming from?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: (pause) Well... I don't like the way the country's ran, don't you know, and, erm... that's pretty much what i was expressing in my poem. The government... the American government - they're sneaky, they're very deceitful, they're liars, they're cheats, they're rip-offs. I mean, the American government is one systematic government that...that nobody can trust. I don't trust them myself.
Interviewer: And how long have you been writing for?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Huh?
Interviewer: How long have you been writing for?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Since I was four.
Interviewer: Do you do this sort of thing a lot, like, open-mic kinda questions?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Oh, I love open-mics, I love coming here to do open-mics, absolutely.
Interviewer: What kind of reactions do you usually get?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Usually, people are... are pretty much in agreement with what I'm saying.
Interviewer: We overheard you before talking about... you went to court today for a speeding ticket?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: That's accurate.
Interviewer: right. Do you wanna tell us that story?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Yes, absolutely, I wouldn't mind telling you the story. Erm... I went to court today for a speeding ticket, and I told the judge, erm... "Let me tell you something, and you listen and you listen good, I'm only gonna say this one time and one time only, I don't repeat myself for nobody," I said. I says... "I'm here to pay a speeding ticket, not to listen to your lectures and hear you run your mouth for an hour." I says "I'm here to pay off my speeding ticket ...and I'm here to get my fines out of the way and get the fuck to work." The judge says "You can't talk like that in my courtroom, you're in contempt of court." then I said... I told the judge, "If that's the best you can do, I feel sorry for you." I said "Why don't you just shut your fucking mouth for once and listen." I said "I'm not gonna take any shit." I said "I'm gonna pay my speeding ticket like I said." I walked up to the god damn judge and I hand him my 25 dollars and I says "Here's my money, now I am leaving." And I left it at that.
(At this point the interview fades whilst the music grows in intensity)
Then, before I left, I turned around and told the judge "I'm here to state who I am and be honest with you." I said "If they thought I was dangerous on the road like you're trying to accuse me of, wouldn't they have taken my license when I first got it? Yes they would." And the judge says "Yeah, you have a point," He goes "You don't need to get loud," I said "Don't get loud?" I says "I've got every right to get loud." I says "You can't do a god damn thing about it, because I'm expressing myself in your court, and there is nothing you can do about it. You think you're god because you have a robe and you can put people up the goddamn river for 20 years? Well you're not." And I left it at that.
Interviewer: Did you walk away?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Yes I did... I don't like the judicial system, I don't like the government system, I don't like the police, I don't like anything to do with this country's government. I just don't like it, because... they're sneaky, like I said - they're deceitful, they're lying, they're cheats, they rip people off. That's the American government for you. America is a third world country, and people don't recognize it... and I think that that's pretty god damn sad, that they don't recognise their own country as a third world, third rate, third class slum.
Interviewer: Well... Do you have any weapons?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Yes, I do. I own a high-powered assault rifle, I own a 12-gauge double barrel shotgun, I own a regular shotgun, I own a regular hunting rifle, I own a 9mm, a 357, a 45 handgun, a 38 special, and, erm... I own an m-16 fully automatic ground assault rifle...
Interviewer: Do you think things are gonna get better before they get worse?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: No way. Things are just gonna get worse and keep on getting worse. Like I said, America's a third world country as it is and... and we're just basically in a hopeless situation as it stands.
Interviewer: What do you think this country's gonna look like in the year 2003?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Y'know, I'll tell you the truth - nothing against you guys, but I don't wanna answer that question because... I haven't even got a mind that's that...that inhumane.
Interviewer: are you ready for what's coming?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Ready as I'll ever be.
Most people aren't.
There's a little saying... Dates back for generations...
Interviewer: Go on...
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Be prepared for anything at any time from anybody, don't take no shit, always stand your ground. People wanna come up to me and run their mouth - guess what? I'll throw them through the fucking window... I won't think a thing of it.
Interviewer: Would you mind reciting your poem for us?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Not at all, I don't see why... I don't see why I couldn't.
There's an evil virus that's threatening mankind It's not state of the art, it's a serious state of the mind The muggers, the backstabbers, the two faced elite A menace to society, a social disease To brainwash the mind is a social disorder The cynics, the apathy one-upmanship order Watching beginnings of social decay Gloating and sneering at life's disarray Eating away at your own self esteem Pouncing on every word that you might be saying To attack someone's mind is a social disorder The constitution, the government, martial law order Superficially smiling a shake of the hand As soon as your back is turned treason is planned When every good thing's laid to rest By the governments hate, by the constitution and their lies And every time you think you're safe And when you go to turn away You know they're sharpening all their knives All in your mind All in your head Try to relate it All in your mind All in your head Try to escape it Without a conscience they destroy And that's a thing that they enjoy They're a sickness that's in all of our minds They want to sink the ship and leave The way they laugh at you and me You know it happens all the time But it only happens in your mind The rats in the cellar you know who you are... Or do you? Watching beginnings of social decay...
Interviewer: Thank you for your time.

onelinedrawing (well, jonah matranga) - "Yr Letter"
There's yr letter, theres you on my floor. theres you in the corner, theres me, wondering what this is for.
Have you finally met her? Is it to say you wish for me, only the best, i hope you never get her I hope its saying how you know now theres nothing left
Read yr letter, read it five times now But still dont get it, all this shit about memories and you and me, and the way it used to be and how you half-regret it. and how it feels so good to get it off yr chest. I wish i never read it. makes me wish i was the one who left.
Oh i need a letter, ooh I need a letter, oh I need a letter but not that kind. I dont need a letter to help me remember what is not what was never mine, ooh i need a letter, oh i need a letter oh I need a letter but not that kind. I wish i never read it. mkaes me wish i was the one who left. Still got yr letter. Its sweating in my hands. With a note that says 'Come get her, she was never in love again." shes waiting in line again. Oh i need a letter, ooh i need a letter, I need a letter but not that kind.
yeah... he was fucking awesome last night. most intimate show environment i have ever been to. more intimate than penfold he played for 2 hours and it only felt like 20 minutes.
